Ahmed Soliman

PE Chief Plumbing & Fire Protection Engineer

 

Bio

Mr. Soliman is a member of the DVL team with approximately 20 years of engineering and construction administration experience in the Middle East. Mr. Soliman’s previous experience in both plumbing and fire protection involved major development projects throughout Kuwait.  Mr. Soliman worked not only in an engineering capacity on these complex projects but also functioned, and was certified as a project manager, for these large scale developments, many of which consisted of 200-300 buildings per project.   As such, as a critical team member with DVL, his expertise has been essential in managing the complexities of the local landscape and in utilizing the depth of his knowledge in coordination between trades to ensure that projects are completed successfully, meeting all Code requirements and staying within the parameters of set budgets and timelines.  Mr. Soliman’s experience within these larger contexts has provided a unique skill set in his ability to multi-task, communicate and maintain the details of projects simultaneously in design and construction and has provided DVL with a strength that benefits the organization in projects both large and small. 

Arkady Kats

Mr. Kats has over 40 years experience in the field of Mechanical Engineering. His experience has included design of mechanical systems for a variety of public buildings; load analysis and system analysis studies; energy conservation system design; energy management analysis and system design; specification writing and field supervision of construction for HVAC. As President of the firm, Mr. Kats oversees all HVAC systems design as well as ensures proper coordination and integration with each in-house trade, Architect, Client and all project team members.  Mr. Kats’ hands-on approach lends itself to a comfort in assisting each project team in tackling tough design questions and creating structures that maintain the highest standards of engineering design.  Mr. Kats’ extensive knowledge and experience in working within existing spaces and within academic settings, ensures the most efficient design and a keen ability to work with existing site conditions, while also simultaneously determining the most cost effective way to upgrade systems.  Mr. Kats is also responsible for ensuring that all recent projects meet current A.D.A., life safety  and sustainability standards.

Jan Aziz

Mr. Aziz’s role as a senior member of the DVL team and specifically of the HVAC Department, has involved both the management and direction of overall project efforts, as well as the specific creation of design documents, completion of calculations and selection of equipment. Mr. Aziz’s background in major federal construction efforts overseas has developed an expertise in large complex projects and how to navigate the regulations of government systems.  Mr. Aziz’s strengths in coordination and diverse engineering background is a great asset to each project as he utilizes this to ensure project goals are met and each design is complete to the highest standards

Jose Valencia
MEP Project Manager/ QA QC

Mr. Valencia has more than 30 years of experience in Mechanical Engineering.  His experience includes design of HVAC systems, project management and construction administration, cost estimates for HVAC systems, heating and cooling load analysis, energy management systems design and analysis, HVAC systems operating cost analysis, cool storage systems feasibility studies, specification writing, code compliance analysis, heat recovery and energy conservation systems feasibility studies and design.  Mr. Valencia’s efficiency as MEP Project Manager combines a natural detail-oriented approach with an ability to develop creative solutions and manage the many aspects and interconnection between mechanical, electrical, plumbing and fire protection trades.  As a critical team member who’s been with the company since it’s inception, Mr. Valencia applies his technical expertise and keen attention to detail to every project DVL takes on.  His knowledge of codes and regulations and detail oriented nature is critical to the successful completion of each project.   Mr. Valencia also places a strong emphasis on the ongoing development of this knowledge which is essential in DVL maintaining the highest level of exertise and continuing to develop the diverse experience in project size and type.

Miguel Rivera
Director of Electrical Engineering
Bio

Mr. Rivera is DVL’s has over 30 years experience and has been with DVL since the company began in 1990.  His responsibilities include electrical design and direct production of electrical working drawings, implementation of design onto architectural backgrounds utilizing AutoCAD and Revit software; electrical equipment selection, coordinating and implementing design standards for DVL among all the internal departments, meeting with clients technical representatives, field surveys, and assisting in the preparation of specifications and  reports.  Mr. Rivera brings to every project, a vast knowledge of electrical systems, both in design and in practice, through his intensive involvement in site inspections and during the construction process.  Mr. Rivera has been the lead engineer on projects for 30 years that vary in size and scope which has provided a diverse array of knowledge and awareness of how to apply principles of engineering design in a multitude of contexts. His technical expertise and knowledge of the latest engineering practices makes him the team expert in implementing the latest design technology.

Robert Marra

Mr. Marra has over 30 years of experience in the engineering and construction field.  As the head of construction administration at DVL Consulting Engineers, Inc., Mr. Marra leads coordination efforts by attending construction and coordination meetings.  Mr. Marra’s extensive knowledge of MEP/FP engineering and direct involvement in the field translates to quickly developed solutions and resolutions to design conflicts between all those involved in the construction effort.  Mr. Marra is also responsible for utilizing his specific knowledge and expertise to benefit the equipment selection and installation process which starts at factory visits and progresses to MEP system startups at the site to ongoing, periodic inspections to ensure that equipment is installed and operating effectively.
