Vaughn College of Aeronautics and Technology is a specialized school for students interested in pursuing careers in aviation engineering, management and maintenance.  This school offers Bachelor’s degrees in Avionics, Aeronautical Engineering and Mechatronics to name a few.  To maintain this focus on technology, the school has invested in upgrading its facilities and providing the most advanced machinery, simulators, and laboratory spaces available.

Vaughn College of Aeronautics and Technology is located adjacent to the Grand Central Parkway in the direct flight paths of arriving and departing flights in and out of LaGuardia Airport.  As a result, it was requested that DVL participate in a project to reduce the impact of aircraft noise on the school.  During this portion of the project, DVL provided systems for a new Welding Room and renovated the Main Aviation Simulator Room, as well as made renovations to Battery Shops, Engine Shops and Non-Destruct Testing Labs.  In order to adequately soundproof the building, several aspects of the mechanical systems were affected and needed to be changed to service the school properly.  Window AC units were removed, wall heights were increased in areas with low partitions and the corresponding HVAC systems were designed to provide for air conditioning and also to provide for individual temperature controls for these newly separated spaces.  Corresponding electrical systems were designed to provide power, lighting, etc. to these newly renovated spaces.  The new system also required the design of new plumbing systems including a new gas main and storm and sanitary drainage. 

An interim project was also completed by DVL to provide the school with some spaces that were of immediate need including a new Robotics Lab, new Electronics Engineering Lab and a new Mechatronics Lab.  DVL provided the designed for all MEP and FP systems associated with these new spaces.

Lastly, DVL is responsible for the systems design for a new library addition being provided for the college.  This space will be as technologically focused as the entire campus and will contain several computer labs and all the necessary equipment to provide support to the students of this specialized school.
