DVL Consulting Engineers, Inc. was the Engineer of Record for the PS 464M project.  The PS 464M school was constructed to occupy the lowest nine floors of a 40 story high rise building in Manhattan.  Given the mixed usage of the building, constant, focused coordination was necessary with the Developer’s team to ensure that utilities provided for at the onset of construction are appropriate for both the residential, retail spaces and the school.  One such example of this coordination effort involved many utilities that were required to be installed on the 40th floor of the building in a mechanical penthouse.  Those utilities were then fed down through the residential spaces to the school and retail portions, including the chiller for the school which required coordination of chiller refrigerant lines and electrical feeds and controls to be routed down the 40 floors. The school was also provided with a rooftop playground on the 9th floor.  The school was designed to be a separate entity with a dedicated entrance and individual systems and the local subway station was modified to provide an entrance directly through the building.
