East of Hudson

DVL provided full mechanical, electrical, plumbing and fire protection systems design for this new $12,000,000 state-of-the-art building which provided new facilities for the protection and administration of the East of Hudson Watershed. The building was designed for security and control as well as sustainability. Working with the contractor, the architects created comprehensive construction documents to the requirements of the Army Corps of Engineers overseeing the project for the NYC DEP. The building and site design include special features, systems, material, and operating conditions to achieve the required LEED certification.  Examples of these features included the stormwater management system in the building and other plumbing features to encourage water use reduction.  Electrical systems were modified to optimize energy performance and utilize Green Power.  Mechanical systems included enhanced refrigerant management, increased ventilation and the designed systems also met the requirement for indoor air quality performance.
