Essex County
DVL Consulting Engineers, Inc. provided completed mechanical, electrical plumbing and fire protection systems design for the support building of the Essex County Correctional Facilities brand new 2,700 inmate detention center. This $200,000,000 project was created to account for inadequate and overoccupied smaller jails and provide for a centralized detention system. DVL was responsible for the design of important specialized spaces which involved inmate intake and processing, medical, and isolation units, kitchen, laundry and dormitory facilities. All systems designed with this correctional facility were specified to prevent vandalism and escape attempts. DVL also provided this correctional facility with emergency power to maintain all power locks within the facility.
